Virgin Hotels Las Vegas has announced it will be entering a ‘transition period’ which will result in Virgin taking over day to day operations at the Vegas casino.
Mohegan currently runs day to day operations from within the casino, but it will no longer play any part in the Las Vegas casino from the end of this year as Virgin takes complete charge.
Virgin Casino Las Vegas
Despite the end of the partnership, Virgin Las Vegas President Cliff Atkinson announced in a press conference this week that Mohegan will still work closely with Virgin during the transition period.
“We are grateful for the collaboration with Mohegan, and we will continue to work together to ensure a well-oriented transition of casino operations.
“This transition is a natural progression in our journey to provide guests of Virgin Hotels Las Vegas with a seamless resort experience.
“With both Virgin Hotels Las Vegas and Mohegan committed to a smooth handover, the transition period is planned to be completed by current year end with no significant disruptions anticipated for resort guests and team members.”
After Mohegan leaves Virgin’s Vegas property there will be just two tribal-run casino’s left remaining in Las Vegas with the Mirage and Palms Casino resort the final two.
Mohegan Tribe Making Moves
The Mohegan tribe isn’t just leaving the Virgin Casino in Las Vegas, as this week’s announcement comes just two months after the tribe also ended its management at Atlantic City’s Resorts Casino Hotel.
“Mohegan will remain as management partners through the end of December 2024, and is committed to ensuring a smooth transition process to maintain the continuity of the exceptional guest experience for which Resorts Casino Hotel is known.”
The tribe hasn’t given any reasoning for leaving both casinos early in 2024 – saying only that their partnerships would be over by the end of this year.
