Tohono O’odham Nation is building a new $450Million casino and resort complex in Arizona, with a grand opening date set for the end of this year.
The Tohono O’odham Nation has already began construction on its new Desert Diamond Casino which is located near the intersection of the Loop 303 & Northern Parkway.
Originally the tribe set a 19-month construction period on their property in April 2023 and a recent media tour seems to suggest that the site will indeed be completed by the end of 2024.
Mike Bean, Tohono O’odham Gaming Enterprise CEO, showed plenty of enthusiasm about the new casino earlier this week – stating that there will be over 1,000 new jobs available once construction is complete.
“Desert Diamond Casino White Tanks at San Lucy will be a beautiful, upscale facility that will be an entertainment mecca and economic engine for the fastest-growing region in the Valley.
“Our construction team is doing an incredible job keeping us moving forward on an aggressive timescale. We are excited to create more opportunities for the Tohono O’odham Nation and the West Valley.”
The construction itself also generated plenty of jobs within Arizona, with over 5,500 workers hired to the build.
Desert Diamond Casino White Tanks Amenities
On the 80-acre site there will be no shortage of amenities, with the Arizona casino offering customers the full gambling experience inside the Desert Diamond Casino complex.
There will be 900 slot machines located on the casino floor, as well as a poker room and table games which include the classics such as blackjack, roulette and baccarat.
Sports betting was made legal in Arizona in 2021 so there will also be a sportsbook located within house once construction is complete.
Desert Diamond Casino guests will also be able to enjoy a wide range of restaurants on offer – including a Morton’s Steakhouse.
