Hard Rock Vegas is coming to Sin City in 2027 with the iconic Mirage casino resort set to close its doors in July.
Operators Hard Rock International confirmed they will cease trading at The Mirage to begin transforming the property into its new full title – the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino and Guitar Hotel Las Vegas.
Once work is complete, there will be a brand new back-to-back guitar-shaped hotel. Naturally it will dominate the skyline over The Strip.
Furthermore, the hotel is expected to feature ‘brightly lit strings’ which can change color. These will be present on both sides of the building.
Hard Rock Vegas
Hard Rock Vegas is expected to at least double the number of jobs at The Mirage. Consequently, this will provide a much-needed boost to the community in Las Vegas.
In terms of construction jobs, around 2,500 people are set to be employed to help oversee the huge project. Hard Rock has also announced that $80Million will be paid out in severance packages to eligible employees.
This will only apply to those who stay with the property until it closes. From a Vegas-enthusiasts perspective, it really will be an exciting few years watching the new casino take shape.
With that said, the world famous Mirage’s closure truly is the end of an era. The Mirage opened in 1989 and it was the first ultra-luxury hotel to operate in Sin City.
Not just content with generating revenue on the casino floor, The Mirage put greater emphasis on entertainment and dining experiences.
Once The Mirage does shut on July 17, it’ll be the second time this year that a casino on The Strip has closed its doors for the last time.
In April, The Tropicana Las Vegas shut to make way for a billion-dollar baseball stadium. It is expected to be the new home of the Oakland A’s.
Meanwhile, the Hard Rock Cafe on The Strip will remain open for business whilst the renovations are carried out.
