The Alabama-Coushatta Tribe already have one casino deep within Texas state lines and now it has announced plans to open a second casino resort on its tribal lands in TX.
Details for the tribe’s second casino are still yet to be revealed and all we know at the moment is that they plan on building on tribal lands within Texas.
It has been reported the casino will have state-of-the-art facilities throughout, with a resort and hotel built alongside the site to make for a ‘vibrant destination’.
“We are incredibly proud to embark on this new chapter,” said the Tribe’s Council Chairman Ricky Sylestine. “This new casino resort will not only provide significant economic benefits for those living and working in the region, but it will also become a vibrant destination for visitors.”
The Alabama-Coushatta Tribe owns one other casino in Texas, operating the Naskila Casino in Livingston, Texas.
Construction is yet to begin on the casino and no timeframe has been revealed to the public. The tribe also released plans to renovate and expand their current One Stop Convenience store & Truck Stop – including the addition of electronic bingo machines.
No Sportsbooks In New Texas Casino
One thing we do know about the new Alabama-Coushatta Tribe casino is that there will be no sportsbook on site, with sports gambling still prohibited in Texas as of 2024.
Former Texas governor, Rick Perry, has said in the past that he believes Texans should have more freedom and choice when it comes to gambling expansion in the state.
“We know that Texans want the freedom and liberty that our great state is known for, to participate in sports betting legally and safely,” Perry announced in a statement.
“Texans deserve the chance to vote on legalizing sports betting and we will continue working to put this initiative on the ballot in 2025.”
A University of Texas poll conducted in 2023 found that 75% of votes would back the gambling expansion within Texasa.
