Missouri’s final initiative received for the state ballot later this year came from Osage Casino Hotel, which is looking to open a new Missouri casino near the Lake of the Ozarks.

The Osage River Gaming & Convention committee managed to collect over 320,000 signatures for their local petition that could be in the Missouri ballot later this year.

Osage were required to attain 171,000 signatures to be considered for the ballot later this year and they comfortably achieved that number with plenty of support across the state for a new casino.

If the Osage Casino is approved, voters would gain a new casino and resort to a site near the Lake of the Ozarks that is set to include a hotel, convention centre and restaurants among other amenities.

The Missouri constitution currently only allows for casinos along the Missouri and Mississippi rivers – with the proposed vote able to change the constitution to allow for a site to be built on the Osage river.

The Osage Nation casino is being funded by entertainment company Bally’s, which has released plans for a $60Million development on Lake Ozark.

A new casino on the Ozarks makes plenty of appeal on paper, with over 700 new jobs reportedly set to be generated during and after construction of the site.

According to the ballot, the new casino would also bring in over $2.1million in revenue per year although they still remain projections.

With over 320,000 signatures on the petition, the Osage Casino has gathered sufficient support that it should appear on the ballot later this year, with Missouri officials voting on August the 6th.
