The Mirage casino closure will see Nevada’s Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation (DETR) support all affected staff.
Approximately 3,350 employees will lose their jobs when The Mirage casino closes in July and re-brands as the Hard Rock Vegas in 2027.
According to reports, the DETR will help Mirage workers find new jobs or even start their own businesses. Furthermore, the DETR will be rolling out their Rapid Response Program.
What the initiative will seek to ensure is that everybody who is laid off can easily access different kinds of services. It will also provide the necessary resources during this period of change.
Christopher Sewell, who is the Director of DETR said that the department is dedicated to customizing support for all Mirage workers.
He also said that the goal is to help the employees as much as possible during these difficult times. Information sessions, job fairs and workshops will all be made available.

This includes advice on how to budget, health cover alternatives and vocational training courses. These materials will be made available virtually as well as physically.
Governor Joe Lombardo shared his appreciation of how the DETR has worked closely with The Mirage. He believes it has proven pivotal to ensure a smooth handover process for departing employees.
Additionally, Lombardo has also been impressed with how job fairs have been so quickly accelerated to help workers gain new positions. The job fair events are expected to be held in Las Vegas Valley.
The Mirage’s closure will provide the end of an era for The Strip. Opening in 1989 by Steve Wynn, The Mirage was the first ever megaresort.
Its initial success provided the springboard for other properties and developments to follow suit.
