Chelsea fans will not enjoy the latest prediction from AI, as our software has picked Enzo Maresca to become the first manager to face the sack this season.

  • Enzo Maresca handed opening sacking in 2024/25 season
  • The Italian wins just four matches from opening 19 league matches
  • Gary O’Neil also faces possible sacking according to AI

Enzo Maresca Will Be Sacked By Chelsea According To AI

The Italian manager was appointed by Chelsea following a successful campaign with Leicester last season – earning a promotion with the Foxes in his debut year as a head coach.

His appointment in west London came as a surprise to most Premier League viewers, as Chelsea sacked Mauricio Pochettino despite a strong end to the 2023/24 campaign.

Maresca has never managed in the Premier League and the leading role at Stamford Bridge has been somewhat of a poisoned chalice over the years.

Chelsea are still paying Graham Potter a reported £200,000 per week despite axing the Brit in April 2023 after just seven months in charge.

Pochettino was made surplus to requirements after one season and a sixth placed finish in the Premier League.

This managerial merry-go-round comes during a time of major spend in the various transfer windows for Chelsea – spending over $1bn in the last three seasons.

According to the AI, the former Leicester City boss will become the first manager to be sacked in the 2024/25 Premier League season.

AI Reasons For Enzo Maresca Sacking

We asked the AI software for the reasons behind Maresca’s sacking, picking four key factors that will play a part in the Italian’s eventual departure.

  • High Expectations: “Chelsea’s substantial financial outlay on new players means the board and fans expect immediate results, particularly in the Premier League and Champions League.
  • Tough Competition: “Competing against well-established managers and teams like Manchester City, Liverpool, and Arsenal adds to the pressure. Any slip-ups in the early fixtures could be detrimental.
  • Inexperienced Manager: “Despite his coaching prowess, Maresca’s lack of top-level managerial experience might become evident under the immense scrutiny and pressure at Chelsea.
  • Historical Precedent: “Chelsea’s history under Roman Abramovich and the new ownership continues to show a lack of patience with underperforming managers, regardless of their previous accomplishments.”

According to the software, Maresca will be made surplus to requirements during the end of December, meaning the Italian will last just six months.

Summary (After 19 Games)

  • Wins: 4
  • Draws: 5
  • Losses: 10
  • League position: 14th

Most Likely To Be Sacked:

  • Enzo Maresca (Chelsea)
  • Gary O’Neil (Wolverhampton Wanderers)
  • Nuno Espirito Santo (Nottingham Forest)
  • Sean Dyche (Everton)
  • Marco Silva (Fulham)

Enzo Maresca is not the only manager who could face an early exit from the 2024/25 season, as the AI has also picked Gary O’Neil, Nuno Espirito Santo, Sean Dyche and Marco Silva as possible candidates.

O’Neil, who is currently in charge of Wolves, made a strong start to his tenure at Molineux last season, finishing 14th and picking up wins over Manchester City, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.

However, the AI believes there could be a sense of second season syndrome which could cause the young manager to part ways with Wolves this season.

After flirting with relegation in the last two campaigns, Everton and Nottingham Forest will be looking to change their fortunes this season – with the AI picking both clubs as possible options to sack their manager this year.

The final possibility is Fulham manager, Marco Silva, who could be in for a difficult campaign after losing star player, Joao Palhinha to Bayern Munich.

Least Likely To Be Sacked:

  • Pep Guardiola (Manchester City)
  • Mikel Arteta (Arsenal)
  • Erik ten Hag (Manchester United)
  • Eddie Howe (Newcastle United)
  • Ange Postecoglou (Tottenham Hotspur)
