Churchill Downs has unveiled the latest addition to its entertainment portfolio, after opening the Terre Haute Casino Resort in Indiana.

The new entertainment site has a total area of 400,000 square feet and has a huge variety of features – as it hopes to offer customers a ‘premium’ gaming/hospitality experience.

Terre Haute Casino holds around 122 rooms, as the luxury hotel has joined the current casino that was opened on April 5th 2024.

When looking at the gambling features of the new casino it is hard to ignore the number of options available, boasting 1,000 slot machines, 36 table games and a new sportsbook.

As well as offering a superb gaming technology, the new casino site also has luxury dining on offer, including the Four Cornered Steakhouse, Rockwood Bar & Grill, The Soda Shoppe, Crossroads Center Bar and High Limit Bar.

CEO at Churchill Downs, Bill Carstanjen, spoke about the immediate success for Terre Haute Casino Resort, as it has attracted thousands of visitors already.

He said (Via Churchill Downs): “Terre Haute Casino Resort has already attracted thousands of visitors from the region to enjoy an unparalleled gaming experience.

“The opening of the new luxury hotel component furthers our commitment to bringing new vibrancy to Terre Haute with this premier entertainment destination and marks a significant milestone for Churchill Downs Incorporated.”

Construction for the Terre Haute Casino Resort began in June 2022 and has had a positive impact on the local economy – creating over 1,000 construction jobs.

After opening, the new casino resort has made over 550 full-time and part-time jobs available – as it looks to consistently improve the local employment rates.

Churchill Downs has made a strong start to 2024, forming a partnership with Sports Illustrated and this deal allowed CDI to grasp a multi-year deal for the naming rights at the Kentucky Derby.

In related news, the start of the year saw Churchill Downs Incorporated partnering with Sports Illustrated. This deal entailed CDI securing exclusive multi-year naming rights for a new dining experience at the Kentucky Derby.
