According to reports, a ground-breaking ceremony will be held on Friday (June 7). At the time of publication, the Catawba tribe operates a single-level temporary casino at the location.

The new venue will be situated in Kings Mountain, about 35 miles south of Charlotte. The tribe also announced the new project will create approximately 2,000 new jobs for citizens in the state.

In 2026, the first phase of the permanent Catawba Two Kings Casino Resort is set to open. It is estimated that the first phase will include up to 1,350 slot machines, a sportsbook area, a 40-seat restaurant and 12 table games.

Last month, the tribe were given the go-ahead to finalize the project after agreeing a private settlement with its former casino developer, SkyBoat Gaming.

Back in March, the Catawba Nation announced that their temporary venue will add 12 live table games this summer. Players can expect to enjoy craps, roulette, mini-baccarat, blackjack, Mississippi stud poker and three-card poker.

Construction work on the property got underway in February and is expected to be finished in July/August. Catawba Nation chief Brian Harris explained that adding the table games came after customer requests.

“By adding live table games, we are giving our loyal patrons something many have asked for and also anticipate drawing Charlotte residents and visitors to the region who have not yet been to the casino.”
