Harrah’s Columbus, NE Racing & Casino – Caesars Entertainment’s first land-based venture in Nebraska – celebrated its grand opening this weekend.
Friday’s opening (May 17) featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony, commemorative Harrah’s t-shirt giveaways and more. Caesars’ Don Ostert, Todd Connelly and Tom Jackson were all in attendance to perform the cutting of the ribbon.
Consequently, it didn’t take long for the first jackpot to be won at the casino, too. A bettor managed to scoop $1,876 on slot game Power Rush. Furthermore, players were able to place the first historical bets at the Caesars Race & Sportsbook.
“We’re so proud to open the doors to Harrah’s Columbus, NE Racing & Casino for the first time today,” said Todd Connelly, regional president of Caesars Entertainment.
“Harrah’s is an iconic brand that our guests have come to know and love across the country. We’re so happy to be here with our partners and friends as we celebrate what is sure to be a bright future in Nebraska,” he concluded.

Players can capture all of the live sporting action via 17 viewing screens. The standout feature is a colossal 163-inch video wall for the ultimate sports viewing experience.
In terms of hospitality, guests can take advantage of the award-winning restaurant Brew Brothers. This was founded by the Carano family in 1995.
There is also a bar called Wishbones on-site which serves a huge variety of soft and alcoholic beverages. Later this year, a Marriott Fairfield Inn and Townplace Suites is expected to open. This will connect directly to the casino.
Columbus Exposition and Racing, who work in partnership with Harrah’s Columbus Nebraska, will be home to a one-mile racetrack, the longest track in the Cornhusker state.
