Executives at an Arkansas casino have stated their desires to expand gaming options to online platforms, sending an official request to state gaming regulators this week.
Chief marketing officer at Saracen Casino Resort, Carlton Saffa, has sent a letter to the Arkansas Racing Commission in the hopes the state will update their gaming laws.
There is currently just three in-person casinos located in Arkansas including Saracen Casino Resort, with Southland Casino Hotel in West Memphis and Oaklawn Racing Casino Resort in Hot Springs completing the list.
Arkansas allows online poker to be played within the state, but none of the three casinos currently offer that gaming option to customers.
The letter sent by Saffa requests that the commission amends the current ‘Rule 5’ law, that would bring additional online games to Arkansas users. The letter read:
“Most importantly, amending Rule 5 [to add additional games] would provide a legitimate alternative to those already imposing their products onto Arkansas consumers, without regard for your standards of operation and without regard to your rules regarding minors placing bets.”
Arkansas casinos allow for online sports betting, but customers are restricted to what they can play and games such as slots, blackjack and craps can only be played at in-person locations.
