The state of New Jersey has announced a new campaign to promote responsible gambling, which has taken a year to finalise and release.
New Jersey Gambling Awareness Campaign
Attorney General Matthew J Platkin. announced a new measure that will aim to support those who struggle with gambling issues and boost responsible gambling.
The news of a new campaign comes during Gambling Awareness Month and should provide a necessary recovery service – alongside prevention methods.
Its focus will lay on spotting the signs of gambling issues before they reach an unsolvable level, helping those at risk in New Jersey.
Platkin has pushed for this move since the beginning of 2023 and believes the state have an ‘obligation’ to protect residents with gambling problems – aided by a study and report from Rutgers University.
He said: “As we learn more and more about the effects of problem gambling, especially following the legalization of sports wagering, we have an obligation to provide resources and support to the public on responsible gaming,”
“This work starts with ensuring awareness of the many tools available to assist individuals who struggle with gambling, including comprehensive prevention strategies and treatment and recovery services.
“Our campaign will highlight the responsible gaming measures put in place within our office and available through our partners and stakeholders to assist those in need of help.”
It is an important time for this gambling awareness measure to be released, as there are a host of sporting events coming in the next few weeks.
The campaign will focus on online advertisements, and will be visible for the imminent NCAA Basketball March Madness – going all the way to Super Bowl 2025.
New Jersey have legalized sports betting within the state, as those who are 21 years of age or older can bet at any registered and legalized sportsbook online within the state.
