Ontario Sports Bettors Unable To Cash Out Winnings Since Super Bowl LVIII

Ben Horlock

Although Super Bowl LVIII was four weeks ago, Ontario sports bettors are still unable to cash out their winnings since the NFL Championship decider.

The withdrawal issue stems from a huge influx of new customers to government-owned gaming company Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG), according to a post on Reddit.

An email has been issued to all of the affected bettors. It explains that the process of verifying customers documents and banking details is the cause of the delay.

Gaming regulations in Ontario confirm that all new customers must provide the necessary proof of identification when opening a new account.

Naturally, with an event as big as the Super Bowl, iGaming operators will see a huge spike in new customers joining to place bets on the extravaganza.

A whole host of customers have confirmed that they have sent all the required documentation. Many have continuously voiced their frustrations to OLG’s customer service department.

However, those who have available funds have not seen them frozen. Therefore, they are still allowed to place bets but will still be delayed in cashing out any further winnings.

Section 5.71 of the Registrar’s Standards for Internet Gaming states that: Players are permitted to withdraw funds from their player account in an accurate and complete fashion and as soon as is practicable, subject to appropriate authorization and verification.

Super Bowl LVIII Betting

Around $23.1billion was bet in North America for Super Bowl LVIII. The Kansas City Chiefs beat the San Francisco 49ers 25-22 in Las Vegas.

The victory means the Chiefs have won back-to-back Vince Lombardi trophies. In 2025, Andy Reid’s side will be gunning for a third consecutive and historical triumph.

Betting records could be broken again in February 2025 when the NFL Championship decider comes around again. It’s set to be held at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.

Bettors who are looking to place bets on Super Bowl IX with a new iGaming provider are better off to sign up early. Nobody will want to encounter the issues suffered with OLG.
