Iowa casino revenue saw a month on month decline in April this year, with figures dropping dramatically by 12% from March to $143.8 million.<\/strong><\/p>\n After posting a positive month for casino revenue in March, Iowa land-based casinos have reported a decline in numbers though April with a disappointing drop of over $20million.<\/p>\n The Iowa Racing & Gaming Commission have released casino figures for April – with $143.8m in revenue generated through the first month of Q2 this year.<\/p>\n Prairie Meadows Racetrack & Casino on the outskirts of Des Moines was the most successful land-based casino in Iowa during April, with $19.9m reported income.<\/p>\n Following just behind the casino in Des Moines was the Horseshoe Casino Council Bluffs in Omaha – which managed to generate $15.5m while also contributing $3.3m to the state tax.<\/p>\n A total of $28.2m in state revenue was generated between the 19 land-based casinos in Iowa during April.<\/p>\n The main reason Iowa casino revenue declined through April was due to the lag in slot games and table games with both monthly and yearly numbers dropping.<\/p>\n Within the 19 land-based casino in Iowa $129.1m was generated from 14,253 slot machines – an 8% decline on April 2023 figures.<\/p>\n The drop in slot games revenue was even bigger when looking at the month-on-month comparison, which showed a 17% decline from the $147.5m generated through March 2024.<\/p>\n It wasn’t just slot games that saw a decline in revenue, with table games at the land-based Iowa casinos also struggling.<\/p>\n Income from Iowa’s 439 table games at land-based casinos dropped by just 4% in April, with a total of $14.7m generated.
