Massachusetts online sports betting revenue generated $49.9Million in April 2024, the Bay State’s Gaming Commission confirmed.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n Year-on-year, that figure was down 15.7%. However, the revenue was an increase of 8.5% compared to March 2024 – which was $45.5m.<\/p>\n Last month’s online wagering revenue came from a total handle of $591.5m. This was a 4.4% increase year-on-year from last April\u2019s $566.2m.<\/p>\n The Massachusetts Gaming Commission also confirmed that the total handle dropped by 7.9% compared to March’s figure of $642.3m.<\/p>\n Additionally, tax revenue in Massachusetts from mobile betting reached $9.9m. This was up month-on-month by 8.5% from March\u2019s $9.1m. However, it was down 15.7% from April 2023\u2019s $11.7m.<\/p>\n In terms of land-based casinos, approximately $97.5m in Gross Gaming Revenue (GGR) was reported for April 2024. At the time of publication, $1.37bn has been collected in taxes since the gaming facilities opened their doors.<\/p>\n Massachusetts is now one of more than 30 U.S. states with legal sportsbooks since the Supreme Court first past legislation in 2018.<\/p>\n However, it wasn’t until 2023 that online and retail sports betting became a reality in the Bay State. Retail sports betting went live on January 31.<\/p>\n Online sports betting was launched on March 10 – just before March Madness got underway. In total, there are six online sportsbooks currently available in the state.<\/p>\n Residents have the choice of using DraftKings,\u00a0FanDuel<\/span><\/span><\/span>, BetMGM, ESPN Bet, Caesars and Fanatics Sportsbook. All six betting companies offer generous new player bonuses and promotions upon joining.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, there are talks of more online apps being added in the coming months.
