Arkansas iGaming will take a step closer to legalization thanks to a chief market officer at Saracen Casino Resort in Pine Bluff.

Last month, Carlton Saffa wrote to Arkansas Racing Commission Chairman Alex Lieblong seeking approval to operate an iGaming app throughout the state.

Saffa wants a change in the rules to allow internet casino gambling. Therefore, meaning players can enjoy the likes of online slots, blackjack, craps, roulette and more.

On May 6, Saffa is set to appear before the Racing Commission. He aims to seek approval and will demonstrate the tax benefits to the state.

It is reported that an extra $12Million can be generated annually. Across the US, iGaming typically generates more tax revenue than sports betting in states that offer both forms of wagering.

Although Arkansas already allows online poker, it is not yet available to players. Saffa aims to try and amend ARC Rule 5 which would accommodate poker and iGaming.

“Doing so would provide significant tax revenue to the government, and, just as important, ensure that operators be held accountable by the government.

“Given that we have seen online operators in the fantasy sports space ignore cease and desist demands from the state. They are merely attempting to police the matter is not a workable solution.

“People in Arkansas are already gambling in online casinos, and those companies are not regulated or taxed by the Arkansas Racing Commission,” he added.

Currently, Arkansas has three brick-and-mortar casinos. Saffa wants to ensure that the potential Saracen app would include live dealers.

Saracen Casino – alongside Southland Casino and Oaklawn Racing Casino – provide bettors with table games, slots and sportsbooks.

Time will tell if Saffa is to be successful in his quest. The general feeling is that it’s a matter of ‘when’ and not ‘if’ iGaming will be legalized in Arkansas.

A new law that came into practice in 2022 prohibits online casino play. However, Saffa will do everything in his power to change that.

Arkansas IGaming
