Bally’s is preparing to release its new betting platform, Bally Bet, with the Massachusetts Gaming Commission (MGC)’s director of sports betting, Bruce Band, targeting the latter stages of Q2.

Massachusetts residents who partake in betting have lost two online options in 2024, as Betr and WynnBet removed its platforms – but MA could see the return of one more as Bally’s are set to enter the state by June.

In 2023, Bally’s became a licensed operator in MA but failed to release throughout the year and they have now renewed that licence for 2024.

There are still a plethora of options in the state, as ESPN Bet, BetMGM, Fanatics Sportsbook, Caesars Sportsbook, FanDuel and DraftKings are currently live in Massachusetts.

Bally’s have made a strong start to the year in terms of releases, as on March 5th, the betting site revealed an igaming platform in Rhode Island – adding to the monopoly already present in RI.

This came at an important time, as the MGC were adamant that they would make the release in Rhode Island their primary objective before moving elsewhere.

Before its full release, Bally has to adhere to betting rules and regulations, like checking the safety of equipment and confirming proper controls within the site.

Bruce Band got a hold of the information that Bally were preparing to launch in MA, after he contacted Bally about the plans and next steps after releasing in Rhode Island.

This was reportedly the first time he had been in direct contact since December 2023, after attempting to finalize plans in several occasions.

Another key factor is the commission approving plans to include sports bets on the United Football League (UFL), which was boosted by the recent XFL-USFL collaboration.

Cathy Judd-Stein, the commission chair, is set to retire from the role after five years at the helm and was positive in her final speech.

She said: “For me, public service has offered the rewarding opportunity to influence policy where key public and private interests intersect.

“My appointment to serve the MGC has been such a privilege as we’ve championed transformation policies on behalf of all Massachusetts residents, advancing a safe and sustainable gaming landscape.”

Bally Bet In Massachusetts
